I re-draft and correct the work of others and offer support to the growing number of people undertaking self-publishing to ensure their text is well finished.

I can also advise individuals submitting scripts, articles and treatments to publishers and broadcasters and those struggling with writing speeches, theses, papers for peer review, dissertations or abstracts.

Books

Publishers and agents expect to see clear, well-presented text for consideration and neatly-captioned illustrations.

Authors self-publishing their work too often spoil it by errors of grammar, vocabulary and phraseology.

Theses

Many postgraduate students will wish to adapt their theses and dissertations for wider publication.

However, making necessary changes from solely technical vocabulary without distorting meaning is a specialised skill, and particularly difficult for those whose first language is not English. My colleagues and I can call upon a broad knowledge base which helps us to make sensible and constructive contributions.

Speeches

Very few people have the confidence to speak on the spur of the moment.

Most speakers need to know how to put their ideas into the best words and phrases. It is not sufficient just to say it. Adequate voice production is needed for people to hear, and clear structure of content helps people to understand. Finally, a speech should be a performance – anything from quietly persuasive to powerfully inspiring. I have created a system of prompt sheets to achieve all these objectives.

Voice, pronunciation and delivery coaching is also available (one-to-one or for groups of up to six people) using webcam technology for immediate communication.
